Moraine Lake

 Moraine Lake

alberta

Moraine Lake is an icy lake in Banff National Park, 14 miles (8.7 miles) from Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks at an altitude of 1884 meters (6181 feet). The lake covers an area of 50 hectares (120 acres).
The ice-fed lake does not reach its peak until mid-June. In general, it reflects the characteristic shades of azure. The special color is due to exposure to light from rock powder regularly deposited into the pond by the surrounding glaciers.

Tourism

The area around the lake has several walking routes that are limited from time to time. The most common trail made by tourists is the Rockpile Trail, which is located just off the current hill. The path is approximately 300 meters (980 feet) wide, with a height change of 24 meters (79 feet). The view of the lake from the top of the cliffs is one of the most photographed places in all of Canada. This view of the mountains behind the lake in Ten May Valley is known as the "Twenty Dollar View", just like Moraine Lake. appeared on the reverse of the 1969 and 1979 editions of the Canadian Twenty Dollar Bill. The area on the menu experiences congestion due to the high level of tourism.
In the same way the Consolation Lakes Trail, which is approximately 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) long, begins with an elevation gain of 90 meters (300 feet). Upon reaching the Consolation Lakes, hikers can continue along the upper lake, which is not visible from the lower side of the lake. There is no clearly marked trail, however, and it is often a scramble over large rocky areas.
There is another trail near the Moraine Lake Lodge Canoe Dock. This first trail is the beginning of two trails, one of which branches into four different trails, so there are a total of five trails starting from this trail (Moraine Lake Trail, Eiffel Lake, Wenchemnapas, Larch). Valley, Sentinel Pass). Lake Ease and Yoho Map provide information about these trails.
